"Got my new Escoda brushes today. I bought the size 14 & 16 Teijin filberts and they look lovely. I love that you can do quite delicate work in great detail with the tip of the brush. I didn't expect it from a brush that size. Still waiting on the Tadami brush but I expect to be buying more. Love them!"
- Jose Maria Calero Posada, Spain
"Tengo conocimiento de esta marca de pinceles desde hace más de cuarenta años, estudiando compre unos pinceles para acuarela con los que aun pinto y me van de maravilla."
- Jan Godachy
"I love it.... the Art whisperers! it is true they paint all by themselves!"
- Michael Black & Agnieszka
"VERSÀTIL handles are amazingly balanced in any hand position. The bristles are very smooth and have remarkable snap, guaranteeing great coverage and application of acrylic and watercolour paint. Truly reliable, this brushes responded consistently, providing the solution to every technical challenge. Once again you have hand crafted the most phenomenal brush in the world! Thank you so very much!"
- Ed van der Linden
"I received my VERSÀTIL brushes from Escoda. They call them synthetic kolinsky and that is more than true. It is a wonderful brush. I tried most synthetic brushes available, and some of them are fairly good, but this one beats them all."
- David Poxon, UK
"The filbert brush is my new favourite for washes, and the synthetic ones are perfect. They are giving me the control I need for my work which is aiming for realism and detail."
- Bob Cook
"Who says you have to use Kolinsky sables to get the detail on watercolors like this one I just finished? The VERSÀTIL brushes worked like magic!"
- Konstantin Sterkhov, Russia
"I have tried that one (VERSÀTIL). It is exactly like sable brush, so many animals will be safe!"
- Kathy Los-Rathburn, USA.
"I have heard about your brushes when they first arrived on Facebook. I had to look long and hard to find them. My favorite are the Borroco series (spelling?). That #14 is the best and I can not live without it. I use it on every painting and if you look on my FB that is a lot. I have painted with many brushes over my 40 years of teaching and this one does it all. I recommend this one to all of the students that I have. I even bought extras to sell in classes and in my workshops. I am trying to find the 1" flat here in the US. I even bought the #12 and #10 the other day. Any suggestions where I can find the 1" flat. Thanks for making these fine brushes for all of us artists. You help make our job a bit easier. We all know it is not a job...it is just something we just have to do."
- Humberto Gamino, Mexico
- Konstantin Sterkhov, Russia
"Incredible! The brush VERSATIL has no difference from pure kolinsky, only better! I couldn`t believe it was possible before I tried..."
- Ivan Bravo, Spain
"VERSATIL brushes allow me to make very fine lines and also big washes.
They hold the amount of ink for a long time and release a little or much ink depending on the line you want to do. The structure is consistent, no "rebel" hairs that spoil the stroke."
- Joseph Casapinta, Malta
"I have the honour to have reviewed a pre market version. This brush stands for its name 'VERSATIL'. A true versatile brush capable to offer what a watercolour artist truly needs. Well Done Escoda!"
- Brenda Swenson, USA.
"I feel blessed to have one of these brushes before they were introduced to the public...thank you!"
- Laurin McCracken, USA.
"I enjoy using the new Escoda VERSATIL Rounds Synthetic brushes. They have a strong snap to them. This allows me to have the control I need to paint the level of realism my paintings require. The belly of the brush holds a lot of paint and the brush has a sharp point. The brush is properly weighted. Like all Escoda brushes, so that it is easy to use. I believe that all watercolorists, no matter what their level of expertise, would find these brushes superior to most brushes on the market. Beginning and intermediate painters will experience a higher level of control than with other synthetic brushes, which will make it easier for them to paint better and learn faster. Experienced painters will find that these brushes handle as well or better than many Kolinsky brushes."
- Michael Black
"Ricard: the brushes are incredible! like the other escoda brushes that i use, i found the handles to be extremely well balanced and very comfortable to hold and manipulate. the marfil and ultimo sintetico are both wonderul brushes that hold their shape and allow for easy application and control of paint onto the canvas. once again, i am awestruck with the amazingness of escoda products! i am excited to be able to use them again in future paintings. i am in the final stages of preparation for my exhibition in july and will mail you a few flyers - my graphic designer did a phenomenal job and i am very proud to feature the escoda logo. ten thousand thank you's again for sending me the brushes."
- Laurin McCracken, USA.
"I have just finished the attached painting using the synthetic brushes you gave me in DC. I like these brushes very much. They have a lot of control. The charge well, they point well and the paint flows well.
I did the white boat on the right front and all of the background with these brushes. I think the water is very successful and that is thanks to the control I had in the brushes. I started in the back of the water with the #2 for small brush strokes, about half way to the front, I changed to the #4 for larger brush strokes.
I will be visiting with the leaders of the Fort Worth Watercolor Society on Saturday. Perhaps if you call me next week I will know more about getting them together in a meeting to view a demonstration on brush making.
All the best."
- Amparo Andre Lopez, Spain
"Soy clienta de su firma. Aprovecho para felicitarles por su calidad."
- Chinmaya Panda, India
"I really liked all the brushes, each brush is different. As always, I loved the Aquario mop and Reservas. I also like the Ultimos (both round and mop) and the new sample among synthetics. Honestly, I feel the new sample VERSATIL is a much better alternative to Kolinsky hair. You are so right, they hold quite a lot paint, have a great spring and point."
- John Yardley, UK
"I have now painted with the new synthetic 'VERSATIL' brushes and enclose my report! You sent Nos 10, 12 and 14 but I have only used No 12 as I assume that all three have the same type of bristle. I painted two complete pictures and yes, the brush is very good. Certainly I preferred it to the previous synthetics you have sent and it does appear to have a better water holding feel. I think a big advantage with them is that they do not lose their point as they get older and more used."
- Wendy Artin, USA
"Thank you again for your generous gift of the wonderful Escoda brushes. I really love your new VERSATIL series: they are firm and springy in just the right way. They are ideal for detail and for washes, reminiscent in shape of japanese brushes but with the firmness of a high quality brand new Kolinsky. Excellent for working quickly. They are also very elegant brushes, and feel perfect in the hand. I am also really enjoying their points, which seem pointier than most points on the size 10 round brush."
- Viktoria Prischedko, Germany
"It was a great pleasure to try the brushes! We really enjoyed the work with them, because of the high-quality. We are working in the watercolor technique „mouillé sur mouillé“ and the brushes takes water very good, but also they spread the pigments good over the paper and gives a nice line. What is important for us, is that the brush paint on wet paper, too, and it does well. The form allows to paint little details with the peak of the brush. My favorites are VERSATIL in combination with OPTIMO Nr.4. They give powerful effects even in the smallest details. For our technique I like the brushes very much. Enclosed I send you our results."
- Todd J. Gordon, USA.
"I have been painting for 20 years and I have experimented with many brushes on the market. Escoda is unmatched in quality and performance. Your product is simply the finest available anywhere. I could not paint without your brushes."
- Robert Wade, Australia
"I’ve just painted a couple of quarter sheet studies (25x36) using only the samples VERSATIL that you sent to me. I think they are great, by far the best synthetics I’ve tried. they carry plenty of wash and point beautifully. Like all Escoda brushes they are perfectly balanced and feel great just to hold ! Best wishes and washes."
- Javier Mínguez, Spain

"He visto su catalogo. Me han convencido, porque casualmente tengo pinceles hecho por ustedes. Pinto al oleo y cosas delicadas. Pueden ver mi pagina. Tengo un pincel que utilizaba mi mujer para maquillaje desde hace mas de 15 años y todabia le utilizo para trabajos delicados. Los pelos estan como el primer dia. Es increible. Solo esta gastado el mango, de limpiarlo. Les felicito por su trabajo."
- Ivo J. Granata, USA.

"I have previously purchased and used your acrylic paint brushes and find them very good. The quality and finish is excellent. I will be staying in Barcelona in September this year. I would like to purchase some more paint brushes when in Barcelona and would like to know where I have to go to buy them in Barcelona. Do you have retail outlets in the city and if so where?? Please send me all the contact details and if possible a map showing their locations. Thank you very much."
- David Orange, Suisse
- Mary Van Arsdel, Holland
"Thank you Stan and Richard so much for your suburb customer service and your kindness! I now have 5 Escoda brushes and they have made the world of difference in my paintings. I am now saving up for a size 18 Escoda brush. I used one at an art store once and fell in love with it. What I liked best about it was the tapering and the responsiveness. It is magnificent brush, as are all of my Escoda brushes. Thank you again, I look forward to receiving my new size 12 brush."
- Frank Spino, USA.
"I just wanted you to know that after working with more than a dozen different brands of watercolor brushes, some considered ´the best in the world´ I have fallen in love with your Escoda Reserva. It was an impulse purchase at a Watercolor Convention here in Florida and it has since become my all-time favorite brush. I tell this to all the artists I know. I will be purchasing a complete line of these brushes in the near future. Thank you for making it! Congratulations for very fine brushmaking! (Escoda Reserva Kolinsky-Tajmyr 1212 #10)"
- Marcia Dietz, USA.
"Dear Richard, I must say I absolutely love my brushes again. They feel like extensions of my imagination. I have been bragging about your customer service to the professors. I am currently working on a painting of roses in oil paint where the pedals emerge from a dark background. Your brushes allow me to add and subtract paint in an intuitive manner. I will send you a picture of it when I am finished. The fan brush is working as expected. Like all fan brushes, the bristles begin to clump together when wet. It returns nicely to it's original shape when clean and dry. I wish there was a brush that could delicately blend out brush marks and create a soft edges with out the clumping issue. You have returned my faith in your company, thank you."
- Warren Lamboy, USA.
"Dear Escoda: I am writing to thank you for producing the most magnificent oil color brushes I have ever used! I began painting in 1970, and it was only in 2010 that I discovered your fabulous brushes. What a difference they make in my painting. Things that were difficult in the past are positively easy now."
