Saint George’s Day is a special date not in only in Catalonia but also around the world since UNESCO turned that date into the International Book Day. In Catalonia it has a powerful an intense significance as it is also Lovers’ Day in which roses and books are given as tokens of love. A cultural magnificent tradition born from an old legend that tells us about the knight Saint George and of his prowess of killing a dragon to save a princess. At Escoda Barcelona we wanted to take the story to another level and we’ve come up with and artistic project where dragon, knight and princess live the exciting experience of reading together in a magic and intimate atmosphere.
The experience with the Gusosos’ Land
This project came to life thanks to the collaboration of the Valencian artist Raquel Sánchez, known as Gusosos’ Land. An artist from the graphic design world, who step by step made herself by taking up new challenges and goals. A detail and harmony lover who has created her own and unmistakable style based on two characters: Boo and Gusoso who have inspired a whole universe around Gusosos’ Land.
"I leave a part of me in every drawing and the Escoda Brushes are the best means to do it" says this young artist who’s made this illustration for us on the special Saint George’s Day.
