George Politis artwork
George Politis lives in Thessaloniki in Greece. He works with several media outlets, but prefers watermedia for their transparent and luminous results.
He is the former president of the Northern Greece Artists Society (SKETBE - 2009 - 2015). A signature member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS), Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (RI), North East Watercolor Society (NEWS), Arizona Watercolor Association (AWA) and Institute des Arts Figuratifs (IAF).
He has had many solo exhibitions in Greece, France and England and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. His paintings have won many awards. He has served as a juror in three IWS exhibitions, the IWS Spain Exhibition in 2016 and the Biennial of Watercolour in Estaimpuis, Belgium (2014). He is the organiser and curator of the Watercolor Biennial in Thessaloniki: "Watercolor International".
His paintings are featured in art books and catalogs.
Through the transparent qualities of his art, George Politis delicately turns the concrete into a visual experience.
The manner in which he organizes his compositions reveals his goal to portray the rich elements of an exceptional and mystical place, while losing neither the clarity of his realistic and romantic images, nor their deeply religious character and tradition.
His work appears flooded in light, revealing the reflections and the immediacy of light in the essence of materials used.
